A battle I'm willing to fight and not forget about - the fight for equality in this country. After Miss California argueably lost Miss America for her "honest" answer there has been a lot of media attention to the issue. The judge and blogger, Perez Hilton, who asked her the question has been getting a lot of negative emails and messages regarding his opionions. Including this one:
"You disgusting, inconsequential, little twerp fag. How dare you presume for theI think that we as a community of brides to be and wedding bloggers should unite to boycott vendors who are biggots. Do not give your hard earned money to someone who doesn't respect equal rights in this country.
rest of America what our morals and standards should be. Crawl in a hole and
die."- Ronald J. Manera AdMax Photography Palm Beach Gardens, Florida http://www.admaxphoto.com/ VOICE: 561-747-3677

Ahmen Sister! I am totally with you. Thanks for posting
I'm not sure what but there's something to be read in the fact that at a beauty contest where women compete with each other by trying to meet a mandated beauty ideal a woman claims she lost for wanting to put another group in their place.
It's almost like a bigoted ouroboros.
I agree with your stance on equal rights for all sexual orientations.
That said, I don't think it's right to ask such a politically charged question at beauty pageant. To ask something like "Do you support gay marriage?" is obviously going to offend many people, and is inclined to sway judges based on their personal beliefs.
The general population is pretty split on this issue, and I give Miss Cali credit for answering honestly.
I read an article that said 95% of the audience did not agree with Cali's views. If that's the case than Perez Hilton should never have asked that question. Cali's honesty was suicide. It was like asking a Bush supporter if he supported the War Against Terrorism at an Obama rally.
Why is someone with morals considered a bigot? If I want to marry my sister or daughter should I be allowed to? Of course not and where do you draw the line? Society has drawn the line, and they have said marriage is for a man and a women. Every time it has come to a vote the people have voted to keep marriage between man and women.

Do you know the definition of a bigot?
Bigot, a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own.
Creating biases against someone based on gender or race is strictly frowned upon. Yet, for some reason it's okay to create legal obstacles for people who want to have the same rights as the rest of society.
You are entitled to your own opinions as long as they don't entire fear with basic rights that belong to other people. Slavery was once tolerated and as a society we are still paying for our ancestors actions.
I'm amazed at the number of people who decide to stand behind a church or moral beliefs. Separation of church and state people ... basic government. I hope you are equally concerned with morals when teenage girls are running around getting knocked up and your friends and family members are getting divorced. I also hope at least one of your children is gay so you can look back and realize how stupid and full of hate you are.
I think the whole debate is dumb, personally. Let gay people have their gay marriages, and their rights and whatever else. Leave it for God to judge, or who or whatever you believe in. People aren't supposed to judge others. You aren't supposed to be judging people because they support gay marriage, or because they oppose it. It is what it is. People will never see eye to eye on every single topic of debate. That's just life. I'm not perfect, but no one else is either, that's the beauty of it.
